Andrea Jeftanovic


Sociologist, PhD in Literature, writer and Professor, who obtained her degree in Sociology from the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile and her PhD in Literature from the California University, in Berkeley.

As a writer, she has published Geografía de la lengua and the short-story-book No aceptes caramelos de extraños. Jeftanovic’s short stories appear in different anthologies and have been translated into English, French, Hungarian and Portuguese. In the non-fiction-field, she has written Conversaciones con Isidora Aguirre (2009) and the essay Hablan los hijos(2011). She was been awarded with several prizes, such as the one given by the Consejo Nacional de la Cultura y las Artes to the best novel and the prize given by the “Círculo de Críticos de Arte de Chile”.

In 2015 she is invited to the WPIC in Cape Town, South Africa.

At present working at the Universidad de Santiago de Chile (USACH) and conducting literary workshops, she habitually collaborates with Revista Intemperie (Chile), Letras Libres (Mexico) and writes about theatre for the newspaper El Mercurio (Chile), as well as for specialized publications.
